Wrestlers Impressive

The Sundance Wrestling
Club returned from the AAU Junior Olympic Grand National Championships in
the Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis with a peck of medals.
Eight of 12 wrestlers
placed in freestyle, five of five placed in Sombo, and eight of 11 placed
in Greco-Roman. The club came home with two national champions, five
second places, eight thirds, and two each in fourth, fifth and sixth
places. In some age and weight classes, as many as 22 young
wrestlers entered.
Scott Smith, in 11-12
year olds, won first in Sombo, placed second in Greco and fifth in
freestyle, while Jesse Levi Hammons, 9-10 years, 55 pounds, won Sombo, was
second in Greco and third in freestyle.
Others lads scoring were
Tyler Phillips, fourth in freestyle and third in Greco; Gary Hall, fourth
in freestyle, and third in Sombo and Greco; John David Hammons, third in
freestyle, second in Sombo and fifth in Greco; Van Hatfield, sixth in
freestyle and second in Greco; Tyron Hatfield, second in Greco; Chad
Jacobs, third in Sombo and third in Greco; Dean Moody, sixth in freestyle
and Justin Palmer, third in freestyle.
Sundance [Wrestling] Club
is coached by Jeff Winderlin and Bill Kilpack who plan meets in Mexico and
Canada for next season which runs from February to July.
