Simon Lad Captures Mat Title

WEST VALLEY.  A 14-year-old West Valley youth is the national title holders in Greco-Roman wrestling at 119 pounds.

Jay Simon, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Simon, 3123 Minuet Way, won the championship at the AAU Grand National tournament in Lincoln, Neb.  He was competing for the Sundance Wrestling Club coached by Jeff Winderlin and Bill Kilpack.

The national victory followed a double win for Simon at the southwest zone tournament in Ventura, Calif.  He won both the intermediate division Greco-Roman and freestyle titles at that meet.

His record for the year is 54-3.
