The 4th Annual Mountain Top Classic was a great success, with more than 180 wrestlers in Greco-Roman on Friday night, March 28, and almost 400 wrestlers in freestyle on Saturday, March 29.  Competition was fierce, with athletes from six states competing: Arizona, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming.  An estimated 2,000-plus spectators filled the large and small gyms at Murray High School. 

Team competition in both the freestyle and Greco-Roman tournaments resulted in a host of clubs battling it out.  The team competition results were as follows:

  • 1st Vandit Wrestling Club — 324

  • 2nd Champions Wrestling Club — 322

  • 3rd Mountain Top Wrestling Club — 204

• Freestyle Team Competition

  • 1st Champions Wrestling Club — 507

  • 2nd Vandit Wrestling Club — 490

  • 3rd Mountain Top Wrestling Club — 342

Outstanding Wrestlers were recognized for each age division in each tournament, with Utah wrestlers claiming all awards (team and individual trophies pictured, left), despite competition traveling in from neighboring states.  (Outstanding Wrestlers)
